Additionally, the DGCA&#8217;s examination of SpiceJet in September 2021 discovered that component suppliers weren&#8217;t getting paid on time, which caused a scarcity of spare parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The statement read, &#8220;Financial assessment carried out by DGCA in September 2021 has also revealed that the airline is operating on a &#8220;<em>cash-and-carry<\/em>&#8221; (model) and suppliers\/approved vendors are not being paid on a regular basis, leading to shortages of spares and frequent invoking of MELs (minimum equipment lists).&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to SpiceJet&#8217;s show cause notice from the DGCA, India&#8217;s Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that<strong><em> &#8220;passenger safety is important.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> He wrote in a tweet that &#8220;<strong><em>even the smallest error impeding safety will be properly probed &amp;
