While Mumbai has introduced a new way for a smoother flow of movement at the airport, Delhi is conducting tests to replace conventional body scanning devices.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>India is often viewed as having tremendous potential as an aviation market. Indeed, the last decade and a half have seen it grow by leaps and bounds, with&nbsp;airlines&nbsp;proliferating like never before. But when it comes to introducing the new tech for their daily operations, Indian airports have some distance to cover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the top two airports in the country by air traffic \u2013&nbsp;Delhi&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mumbai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Mumbai&nbsp;<\/a>\u2013 are gradually introducing changes that would, hopefully, pave the way for others to emulate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-delhi-international-airport-limited\">Delhi International Airport Limited <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 28th, Terminal 2 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmrgroup.in\/delhi-international-airport\/#:~:text=Delhi%20International%20Airport%20Limited%20(%20DIAL,Malaysia%20(10%25%20each).\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Delhi\u2019s Indira Gandhi International Airport<\/a> (DEL) started trials of a complete-body scanner according to the directives given by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). More than 80 airports in the country have been identified as sensitive by BCAS, and speaking about installing body scanners in these locations has been circulating for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Delhi\u2019s airport operator, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmrgroup.in\/delhi-international-airport\/#:~:text=Delhi%20International%20Airport%20Limited%20(%20DIAL,Malaysia%20(10%25%20each).\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Delhi International Airport Limited <\/a>(DIAL), has told that the trial will resume for 45 to 60 days and said,<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"770\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/delhi_airport.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20652\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/delhi_airport.webp 770w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/delhi_airport-600x337.webp 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/delhi_airport-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/delhi_airport-768x432.webp 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/delhi_airport-750x422.webp 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><figcaption><strong>Delhi International Airport Limited | Aviationa2z.com<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDIAL has installed a full-body scanner at the security check area for a trial. The trial will be conducted in real-time, i.e. travel will pass through the scanner during a security check before moving to the security hold area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this phase, feedback from security personnel and passengers will be collected, and relevant authorities will then decide on the next course of action. The project has been postponed multiple times, with even the&nbsp;December 2022 deadline looking difficult to achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The government has been considering installing body scanners for many years now. But several concerns connected to privacy, radiation, and false alarms have postponed the project over the years.
