{"id":22010,"date":"2022-06-30T12:46:33","date_gmt":"2022-06-30T07:16:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?p=22010"},"modified":"2022-06-30T13:34:18","modified_gmt":"2022-06-30T08:04:18","slug":"navi-mumbai-international-airport-to-be-renamed-db-patil-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2022\/06\/30\/navi-mumbai-international-airport-to-be-renamed-db-patil-airport\/","title":{"rendered":"Navi Mumbai International Airport to be renamed DB Patil Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The two-year-long battle of the Project Affected Persons of the Navi Mumbai International Airport ultimately seems to have borne fruit as the State Cabinet decided to name the airport Loknete Swargiya DB Patil International Airport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The PAPs from Uran, Raigad, Panvel, Thane, Palghar, and Mumbai have welcomed the decision and claimed that Patil had fought for the rights of PAPs and deserved the honor.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chief-minister-uddhav-thackeray\">Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The opposition, though, questioned the timing of this decision. Sena had earlier decided to name the airport after Sena Supremo, Late Balasaheb Thackeray.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uddhav_Thackeray\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray<\/a> had, on Tuesday, claimed that he was never opposed to the name of DB Patil and had never insisted on his father\u2019s name. He had confirmed that the decision to name the airport after the PAP leader would be tabled in the Cabinet meeting. The withdrawal of the name of his father, respected Balasaheb Thackeray, and deciding on DB Patil&#8217;s name, thereby giving justice to the need of PAPs by Uddhav Thackeray, is indeed a big decision by him and we appreciate it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told that the credit goes to the PAPs and those who fought for the name. \u201cThis success is not of an individual or our family but the PAPs. The determination may be late but MVA gets the honor.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BJP MLA Prashant Patil, who had been spearheading the agitation, questioned the delay in the decision. \u201cThis is the success of PAPs. However, the resolution was agreed upon when the MVA government is on its way out, which is questionable. We will now ensure continued follow-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who was Digambar Bapuji Pawar Patil?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Born on January 13, 1926, in the Jasai village of Uran, Dinkar Balu Patil, fought for the PAPs for years. Earlier, the PAPs merely got compensation for their land. Patil launched the PAP agitation in 1984 against CIDCO and the State Government.
