{"id":21406,"date":"2022-06-13T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T02:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?p=21406"},"modified":"2022-06-12T23:02:08","modified_gmt":"2022-06-12T17:32:08","slug":"udan-celebrates-fifth-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2022\/06\/13\/udan-celebrates-fifth-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"UDAN celebrates fifth anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Central Government&#8217;s dream project, <strong>Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik UDAN (let the common man fly).<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative started slowly but gained traction as newer airlines, such as <strong>Star Air,<\/strong> began to explore this enormous untapped market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"364\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1-UDAN-Story-Dibyendu-Mondal.jpg\" alt=\"This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Central Government's dream project, Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik UDAN (let the common man fly). \" class=\"wp-image-21408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1-UDAN-Story-Dibyendu-Mondal.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1-UDAN-Story-Dibyendu-Mondal-300x182.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption>image credits to ET <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts claim UDAN is a gamechanger in the aviation industry since it allows the &#8220;<strong>ordinary man<\/strong>&#8221; to commute between smaller cities in a short amount of time, rather than hours, at a low cost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over <strong>415 UDAN routes connect 66 underserved\/unserved airports, <\/strong>including heliports and water aerodromes, and the scheme has helped over 92 lakh people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> More than 1.79 lakh flights have been booked as a result of the scheme so far.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center\">Ahmedabad, Ajmer (Kishangarh), Bengaluru, Belagavi, Delhi (Hindon), Hubballi, Indore, Jodhpur, Kalaburagi, Mumbai, Nashik, Surat, Tirupati, Jamnagar, and Nagpur are among the 16 airports served by Star Air under UDAN. <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/udan-started.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/udan-started.jpg 640w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/udan-started-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/udan-started-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption>image courtesy &#8211; ET<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center\">\"In the coming week, we'll be adding Bhuj and Bidar to our network,\" he stated.\n \n\"So far, we've carried over four lakh passengers under the scheme,\" he said. <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>However, certain obstacles remain that will stymie the scheme&#8217;s complete adoption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Covid lockout and limits could be cited as factors for the lack of visible traffic.
