According to a senior DGCA official, Akasa Air’s service launch <\/strong>would be further delayed because the airline will only receive its first aircraft in June or July.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier, which is funded by renowned billionaire Rakesh Jhunjhunwala,<\/strong> had planned to begin operations in June but had to postpone it to July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a top airline official, service will begin in July. SNV Aviation<\/strong>, a Mumbai-based carrier, acquired the required no-objection certificate<\/strong> from the civil aviation ministry in October of last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the induction of the aircraft, the airline must complete a series of successful proving flights. <\/p>

“The delivery of their (Akasa Air) aircraft has been delayed, and it is likely to arrive in June or July. <\/em><\/p>

All of the other procedures are running smoothly<\/em> “PTI spoke with a DGCA officer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

When contacted, Akasa Air stated that the first aircraft <\/strong>would arrive in mid-June and that commercial operations would begin in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our first aircraft should arrive in mid-June 2022. <\/em><\/p>

The first aircraft will assist us in obtaining our operating licence, and proving flights will be conducted in accordance with regulatory standards prior to receiving the AOP (Air Operator Permit) <\/em>“Vinay Dube, the founder and managing director of Akasa Air, said in a statement to PTI.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also stated that the airline plans to begin commercial operations in July 2022 and that it is on track to fly 18 aircraft by the end of March 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A proving flight is part of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s process for introducing a new aircraft type into an airline’s fleet. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can take off from one airport<\/strong> and land at another. It is made up of five segments (legs) with a total block time of at least 10 hours.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This could entail a single detour<\/strong> to an alternate airport or destination en route. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
