Wizz Air, the Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier<\/strong>, has stated that it will increase recruitment, with intentions to hire 20,000 new staff by 2030, following the adoption of an ambitious corporate expansion scheme. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wizz Air plans to add 500 planes to its fleet by the end of the decade, which will need the hiring of 6,600 new pilots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made during Pilot Expo 2022, Europe’s largest exhibition for flight crew recruitment<\/strong> and training, which took place in Berlin, Germany on May 7 and 8, 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 20,000 new workers will be split between flight and cabin staff, according to the airline. Wizz Air now has 6,000 employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the exact number of pilots the airline plans to hire, Ewa Danecka-Latka, Wizz Air's Head of Crew Resources, <\/strong>revealed that flight crew members will account for about 33% of all new personnel, or up to 6,600, while flight attendants will cover the remaining 13,400 positions. <\/pre>\n\n\n\n

“The goal is to increase three times in nine years, <\/strong>and this is not a pipe dream; it is one of the KPIs we must meet.” <\/p>
“For our recruitment staff, this means that we have to hire one person per hour, or 2,000 new hires every year<\/strong>,” Danecka-Latka explained. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
This is what we are preparing for since we need a lot of fresh pilots and cabin crew members to join our operations,” she added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“At the moment, we have 42 bases located in 18 countries throughout the world.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result, a pilot or cabin <\/strong>crew member might be allocated to a large variety of sites,” Danecka-Latka noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
