Domestic air passenger traffic increased by 6.1% <\/strong>in the January-March quarter to 248 lakh, up from 233.83 lakh in the same time last year, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to DCGA, domestic carriers carried 106.96 lakh passengers in March, a 36.7 percent increase over February 2022<\/strong>, when monthly domestic traffic amounted at 78.22 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan-March 2022 were 248.00 lakhs as opposed to 233.83 lakhs during the same period last year, registering annual rise of 6.06 percent and monthly growth of 36.74 percent,” according to the DGCA report.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo, a private carrier, maintained its leadership position in March, with a market share of 54.8 percent. The figures were higher than in February, when the airline’s market share was 51.3 percent. Tata Aviation Pack (Air Asia, Air India, Vistara) has a total market share of 24.5 percent, whereas Go First has a market share of 9.7%, SpiceJet has a market share of 10.2%, and Alliance Air has a market share of 1.4 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the survey, Air India’s market share fell to 8.8% in March from 11.1 percent in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the DGCA<\/a>, the overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines was 0.30 percent in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The domestic carriers got a total of 458 passenger-related complaints during the same time period, according to the aviation organisation, with Air India receiving the most, 183.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

853 people were denied boarding, costing Rs 27.60 lakh in compensation, while 7,582 passengers were affected by cancellations, costing Rs 14.67 lakh in compensation and facilities. Flight delays impacted 1,41,840 passengers, costing Rs 48.14 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
