readies A321 XLR for maiden flight"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">The <strong>Airbus A321 XLR, the European manufacturer&#8217;s newest plane<\/strong> and the world&#8217;s longest-range narrow-body airliner, could take off sooner than expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first of the kind was observed with its engines installed outside of an Airbus manufacturing site in <strong>Hamburg<\/strong> on April 12, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_20220417_005111.jpg\" alt=\"Airbus A321 XLR, the newest plane and the world's longest-range narrow-body airliner, could take off of the aircraft&#8217;s airframe was completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Airbus did not specify a specific date for the aircraft&#8217;s maiden flight, just confirming that it will take place in 2022.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Air-Journal, the company intends to begin flight testing the plane in the summer of 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, according to an unidentified Airbus source,<strong> flight testing will begin in the second quarter of 2022. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>According to previous Airbus claims, the final phase of the A321 XLR&#8217;s assembly is identical to that of the A321 LR, on which the latter is based. <\/p><p>As a result, the manufacturer faces no additional problems in the last stages of the flight preparations. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center\">The A321 XLR has a maximum range of 4,700 nautical miles (about 8,700 kilometres), which is 700 nautical miles (12,000 kilometres) longer than its predecessor. <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Following its premiere in 2019, the aircraft was a huge hit with airlines, with over <strong>450 orders placed in the first
