But he also said passengers were \u201cnot match fit\u201d after an extended time of not traveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI went through the airports on Wednesday and people forget they need to take out their laptops, they have to take out their aerosols &#8230; so that is taking longer to get through the queue,\u201d he said. However, passengers pointed out that at least three out of eight security lanes were closed at terminal 2 on Friday morning.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joyce later clarified his comments: \u201cJust to be clear, I\u2019m not \u2018blaming\u2019 passengers. Of course, it\u2019s not their fault. I was asked what the factors were and why queues are so long at airports. And I defined the multiple reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI went through airport security this morning myself. Everyone is doing their best including passengers, who are showing incredible patience in these queues. She told passengers were not to blame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s normal to come one hour before a domestic flight, so I don\u2019t think that\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Domestic travelers were advised to arrive two hours ahead of their scheduled departure to ensure everyone \u201cgets away on time\u201d. Airport staff handed out masks, water, and chocolates to those waiting in line and fast-tracking those caught out by the long wait times and in danger of missing their flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shelagh Bleach, a tourist from the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Kingdom\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">UK<\/a>, made sure to come well before her flight to Brisbane on Friday morning after seeing the crowds on Thursday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe came very early this morning because we saw on the television how it was,\u201d she told. \u201cSo we\u2019ve just come here at least three hours early.
