Due to low demand<\/strong>, Air India<\/a> announced on Sunday that it will reduce its India- Sri Lanka flights<\/strong> from 16 to 13 per week beginning April 9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sri Lanka is currently in the grip of its worst economic crisis in its history. \n\nThe public has been suffering for weeks due to long lines for fuel, cooking gas, and essentials in short supply<\/strong>, as well as long hours of power outages.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n

“Currently, AI operates 16 flights per week \u2014 daily flights from Delhi and nine flights per week from Chennai,” according to an Air India spokesperson.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

While the frequency from Chennai would stay unchanged, the number of flights from Delhi will be reduced from seven to four each week, according to the spokeswoman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From April 8<\/strong> to May 30, AI 283 on the Delhi-Colombo route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From April 9<\/strong> to May 31, AI 284 on the Colombo-Delhi route will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
