Under its R&D initiative,<\/strong> the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has entered into an agreement with Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) <\/strong>for the joint, indigenous development of systems for air traffic management that were previously imported, giving a major boost to the government’s “Make in India”<\/strong> initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the presence of Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman AAI, M Suresh, Member (ANS), AAI, and other senior officials from AAI<\/a> and BEL, the agreement was signed today at Wings India 2022<\/strong> in Hyderabad by B K Sarkar, ED (ATM-ATFM) from AAI and MV Raja Sekhar, Director (R&D) from BEL.<\/div> <\/pre>\n\n\n\n
BEL and AAI will collaborate to develop a Civil Air Traffic Management System (ATMS) with Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (ASMGCS)<\/a>,<\/strong> a complex ground surveillance system that manages air traffic at airports and in Indian Civil Airspace for the safe operation of flights from take-off to landing, as part of this agreement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“AAI is committed to safe and efficient Air Navigation Services across Indian airspace\/airports, improving capacity and providing cost-effective and environmentally friendly services to its clients,” <\/em>Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman AAI, stated. <\/p>
AAI improves the ATM system at airports <\/strong>on a regular basis to keep up with changing worldwide service requirements.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Following the signing of the agreement, BEL’s Director (R&D), MV Rajasekhar<\/strong>, stated that the company has worked hard to broaden its range of solutions for non-defense <\/strong>business categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This agreement with AAI is a significant step forward in the government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ <\/strong>missions. <\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“The partnership aims to take advantage of BEL and AAI’s complementary strengths and skills, <\/strong>allowing both to meet airport modernisation prospects,” he stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Air traffic control<\/strong> has two purposes: to ensure safety, maintain separation between various aircraft, and handle operations at the airport and in Indian airspace efficiently. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
 ASMGCS<\/strong> offers aircraft and vehicles on the ground with routing, guiding, and surveillance services in order to maintain safe surface movement <\/strong>in all weather situations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
