They were <strong>reserving seats <\/strong>at a specific price and then reselling them for <strong>four times<\/strong> the original amount. They&#8217;ve been blacklisted due to the <strong>shambles<\/strong> they&#8217;ve created, which has resulted in losses for the airline,<\/em>&#8221; a top source at the company said on condition of anonymity.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Those interested in flying the sector can do so directly on the airline&#8217;s website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;An abnormality was discovered in the way tickets were booked by a few agents, and action was taken as a result.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p> Passengers can now book through <strong>call centres and the airline&#8217;s website, <\/strong>according to an unnamed industry source. <\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"770\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air_india_file.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air_india_file.jpg 770w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air_india_file-600x337.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air_india_file-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air_india_file-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air_india_file-750x422.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>An Air India official said he is &#8216;<strong>awaiting a response from the department concerned.&#8217;<\/strong><\/p><p>The restriction on agents is expected to have an <strong>impact on Air India flight bookings to Canada <\/strong>during the high summer travel season, especially given the government&#8217;s announcement that <em>regular international flights will resume<\/em>. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The India-Canada sector, in particular, is expected to see high demand this year due to the presence of a substantial Indian diaspora in Canada, particularly Indian students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The only airlines that fly directly between the two countries are <strong>Air India and Air Canada. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, other travel agents argue that imposing a blanket ban on everyone because of the mistakes of a few is not the best approach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center\">\"<em>Tickets between India and Canada can be sold through overseas agents.\" <\/em>\n\nIt is also possible for <strong>OTAs<\/strong> registered in other countries to do so.\n Only travel agents in India are discriminated against, and TAFI members are rightly outraged, said Ajay Prakash, head of the <strong>Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI).<\/strong><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"660\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air-india_660_052815014203.jpg\" alt=\"To penalise individuals after two years of travel restrictions, Air India has barred local agents from buying tickets in the Canada sector.\" class=\"wp-image-19147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air-india_660_052815014203.jpg 660w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air-india_660_052815014203-600x409.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/air-india_660_052815014203-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He went on to say that the federation was pleased with the<em><strong> Tatas&#8217; acquisition of Air India and hoped to see more progressive and proactive measures in the future. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>&#8220;The entire business has experienced <strong>massive losses over the last two years<\/strong>, and while the announcement of the resumption of scheduled <strong>commercial flights<\/strong> was a welcome relief, this discriminatory action has put a damper on things.&#8221; <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Agents are an airline&#8217;s extended marketing arm, so cutting them off <strong>makes little sense<\/strong>. <\/li><li>Air India is endangering itself by antagonising Indian agents;
