to file a piece of preliminary information on whether to build a greenfield airport or expand the current <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shillong_Airport\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Umroi Airport <\/a>as the Airport Authority of India has told the extension of the runways at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shillong_Airport\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Shillong<\/a> Airport may not be possible, officials told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-airport-authority-of-india\">Airport Authority of India <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Airport Authority of India (AAI) implicitly requested the state government to identify land for a greenfield airport &#8220;It is not hopeful about the feasibility of the extended runways at the Umroi Airport or the extent to which it may be feasible to extend the runways<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" airport that would cater to the requirements of the residents in the State and others intending to visit the State without having to endure the present three-hour ordeal of journeying from Guwahati Airport to Shillong proper, it is hoped that something concrete about the growth of the State is planned, with a greenfield airport project or an expanded Umroi Airport as its centre being a harbinger or catalyst for the general development of the State that would make employment opportunities and add to the wellbeing and happiness quotient of the citizens here, the high court
