board in October 2016 and was appointed Chairman for the first time in January 2017 following the acrimonious departure of former <strong>Chairman Cyrus Mistry.<\/strong><\/li><li> He also serves on the boards of several group operating companies, including <ul><li><em>Tata Steel,<\/em><\/li><li><em>Tata Motors, <\/em><\/li><li><em>Tata Power, <\/em><\/li><li><em>and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he served as CEO from 2009 to 2017.<\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Earlier this month, Ilker Ayci turned down Tata Group&#8217;s offer to lead the airline, citing &#8220;<strong>attempts<\/strong>&#8221; to cast his appointment in &#8220;<strong>unfavourable light<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p><p> &#8220;My appointment as (CEO of) <a href=\"http:\/\/airindia.com\">Air India <\/a>within<strong> Tata Group was announced<\/strong> earlier this month, with an April 1 start date.&#8221;
