<strong>self-flying electric air taxi<\/strong> developer Wisk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wisk, which describes itself as the developer of the \u201c<strong><em>first all-electric, self-flying air taxi in the US\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, said in a statement on January 24, 2022, that it has secured $450 million from Boeing.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-boeing-wisk-startup\">Boeing Wisk Startup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The US aerospace and\u00a0defense\u00a0giant is also a strategic partner of Wisk, providing the air taxi company with its expertise.\u00a0The financing helps to make Wisk one of the \u201c<strong><em>most well-funded<\/em><\/strong>\u201d companies in the advanced air mobility space, Wisk added in the statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding will help Wisk to develop its <strong>6th generation electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will also aid it to grow, launch scale manufacturing and bring its product to&nbsp;market.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wisk\u2019s aircraft is a fixed-wing platform, powered by 12 independent rotors <\/strong>(six on each wing).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> It can fly at altitudes of between <strong>1500 and 5000 feet<\/strong>, traveling at speeds of up to 100 miles an hour (160km\/h) with a range of about 25 miles (40 km).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wisk, which is based in San Francisco and New Zealand, says it has logged <strong>1,500 test flights with full-scale aircraft<\/strong> and that its aircraft will be the first candidate for certification of an autonomous, <strong>all-electric passenger-carrying air taxi.<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Its first successful flight was back in 2017.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wisk competes with Archer Aviation, whose Maker demonstrator performed its first hover flight in December 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center\">Wisk chief executive Gary Gysin said the company was <strong>very lucky to have Boeing onboard <\/strong>both as an investor and strategic
