{"id":17018,"date":"2022-01-22T17:43:21","date_gmt":"2022-01-22T12:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?p=17018"},"modified":"2022-01-22T17:45:45","modified_gmt":"2022-01-22T12:15:45","slug":"us-suspends-china-bound-flights-in-retaliation-for-covid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2022\/01\/22\/us-suspends-china-bound-flights-in-retaliation-for-covid\/","title":{"rendered":"US suspends  China-bound flights in retaliation for COVID"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>Authorities in the US cut some flights by four Chinese carriers after Beijing stopped <\/strong><\/em><strong>some <\/strong><em><strong>services by US carriers after the discovery of COVID cases.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-government-in-the-united-states\">Government in the United States <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The government in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">United States<\/a> has told it will suspend 44 China-bound flights from the US by four Chinese carriers in response to the Chinese government\u2019s decision to suspend some US airlines\u2019 flights over worries about COVID-19.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/us-airlines.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16931\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/us-airlines.jpg 700w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/us-airlines-600x360.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/us-airlines-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption> United States |aviationa2z.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The suspensions will start on January 30 with Xiamen Airlines\u2019 scheduled Los Angeles-to-Xiamen flight and resume until March 29, the Department of Transportation told.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>The decision will cancel some flights by Xiamen, Air China, China Southern Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chinese-authorities\"> Chinese authorities <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Government_of_China\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Chinese authorities<\/a> have stopped 20 United Airlines, 10 American Airlines, and 14 Delta Air Lines flights since December 31, after some passengers tested positive for COVID-19. As recently as Tuesday, the Department of Transportation told the Chinese government had declared new US flight cancellations<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liu Pengyu, a spokesman for the Chinese embassy in Washington, told on Friday the policy for international passenger flights coming to China had \u201cbeen applied equally to Chinese and foreign airlines in a fair, open and transparent way\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He called the US activity\u201cvery unreasonable\u201d and counted, \u201cWe urge the US side to stop disrupting and restricting the normal passenger flights\u201d by Chinese airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"860\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/im-472248.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17023\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/im-472248.jpg 860w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/im-472248-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/im-472248-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/im-472248-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/im-472248-750x500.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Airlines for America, a trade group representing the three US carriers impacted by China\u2019s move along with others, told it supported Washington\u2019s action \u201cto confirm the fair treatment of US airlines in the Chinese market\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>The Department of Transportation told France and Germany have taken similar action in answer to China\u2019s COVID-19 actions.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-china-has-also-suspended-numerous-us-flights\">China has also suspended numerous US flights <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It told China\u2019s suspension of the 44 flights was \u201caverse to the public interest and warrant proportionate remedial action\u201d. It told that China\u2019s \u201cunilateral actions against the named US carriers are inconsistent\u201d with a bilateral agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>China has also suspended numerous US flights by Chinese carriers after passengers later tested positive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department told it was prepared to revisit its action if China revised its \u201cpolicies to bring about the necessarily improved situation for US carriers\u201d.
