Kumar told both the North Runway (for departures) and South Runway (for arrivals) were in use at KIA on the morning of the incident.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Kempegowda_International_airport_EPS-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16914\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Kempegowda_International_airport_EPS-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Kempegowda_International_airport_EPS-1-300x195.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Later, the shift in-charge determined to go in for single runway operations and opted to create service of the North Runway for both arrivals and departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-flight-to-bhubaneswar\">Flight to Bhubaneswar  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>The South Runway was closed but that was not communicated to the Control in the South Tower.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em> As a result, he gave the green signal for the flight to Kolkata to depart, while the North Tower controller permitted the flight to Bhubaneswar to depart.
