Senior IAS officer Vikram Dev Dutt <\/strong>has been appointed as the new Chairman & Managing Director of national flight carrier Air India.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appointment comes at time when the national carrier has been taken over by Tata Group<\/strong>. The appointment was a top level bureaucratic reshuffle<\/strong> in government of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(I) Ms. B V Umadevi<\/strong>, IFoS:CG (87), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(ii) Shri Shashank God, lAS<\/strong> (TG:90), presently in the cadre, as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(iii) Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh, lAS <\/strong>(JH:91), presently in the cadre, as Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium

Lets know more about Vikram Dev Dutt:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions<\/strong> has appointed senior bureaucrat Vikram Dev Dutt as the chairman and managing director of Air India.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • He takes over from Rajiv Bansal, Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation<\/strong>, and will be in charge of Air India till the airline is handed over to the Tata Group.<\/li>
  • Reports suggest that the loss-making national carrier Air India’s <\/em>takeover by Tata Group may be delayed, and would materialise only by the end of this month. <\/li>
  • The completion of procedures is reportedly taking longer than expected, which is delaying the takeover process.<\/strong><\/li>
  • Born in 1969, Dutt who resides in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has been appointed in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, <\/strong>an order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • Dutt is a 1993-batch IAS officer of AGMUT <\/strong>(Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territory) cadre.<\/li>
    • Prior to his appointment as Air India CMD, Dutt was appointed as Principal Secretary at Health and Family Welfare Department <\/strong>of the Delhi government in June 2020.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      However, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal had in March 2021 transferred him and posted him as principal secretary of the Services department.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

      In 2020, Dutt assumed the charge of Delhi’s Health and Family Welfare Department as principal secretary to push the government’s measures to contain the COVID-19 cases in the national capital.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • He has a B.Tech and a post-graduate diploma in business <\/strong>administration from IMT Ghaziabad.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
        • He has also served as principal secretary for Finance in the government of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the secretary of Tourism in the government of Goa, and the Managing Director <\/strong>of India Tourism Development Corporation.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
