Its network allows international travellers to connect through Dubai without requiring direct flights between their origin and final destinations.

According to OAG’s broader November rankings, Dubai also remained ahead of other major international hubs despite the monthly capacity decline.

PHOTO: Mitchul Hope | Wikimedia Commons| https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Emirates_A6-EEU_%28Destination_Dubai_Livery%29_Airbus_A380-861_Melbourne_International_Airport_%28MEL_YMML%29_%2852553277242%29.jpg

Dubai’s Passenger Traffic Performance

Dubai International Airport handled 95.2 million passengers during 2025, representing a 3.1% increase compared with the previous year. The figure marked the busiest year in the airport’s history and established a new annual passenger traffic record.

However, traffic figures during the first half of 2026 showed a different trend. Dubai Airports reported that DXB handled 31.5 million passengers between January and June, representing a 31.3% decline compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

By the end of June 2026, the airport was connected to 217 destinations across 99 countries through almost 50 international airlines. These connections continued to provide a broad international network despite the reduction in passenger traffic and scheduled capacity, Voice of Emirates reported.

The November rankings therefore underline Dubai International Airport’s continued importance in international aviation. Although its scheduled capacity remained below the previous year’s level, DXB retained a considerable lead over Heathrow and other major international airports.

Stay tuned with us.
