The arrangement gives the Doha-based airline access to valuable arrival and departure times at one of the world’s busiest airports.

During the 2025/26 winter season, Qatar Airways leased six weekly slots from Oman Air. These represented three arrival-and-departure pairs and allowed Qatar Airways to temporarily increase its Doha-London Heathrow service to as many as 66 weekly flights.

The airlines continued the arrangement during the Summer 2026 schedule, with another three weekly slot pairs. The latest extension carries the cooperation into Winter 2026/27, marking three consecutive flight schedule periods.

Airport Coordination Limited’s completed slot-trade register lists the latest transaction under the W26 season. It records six slots per week transferred from Oman Air to Qatar Airways at Heathrow on October 16, 2026. The Muscat-based airline had originally planned to increase its own Heathrow operations to 14 weekly flights.

However, Oman Air did not proceed with that planned increase after continuing the slot arrangement with Qatar Airways. The transfer allows Qatar Airways to retain access to the required Heathrow operating times while Oman Air does not implement its previously planned frequency expansion.

Heathrow slots are important because airlines need approved arrival and departure times to operate scheduled services at the airport. Securing suitable slot pairs allows carriers to organise their schedules around passenger demand and available airport capacity.

Photo: Clément Alloing

Qatar Airways’ Winter 2026/27 Heathrow Schedule

The historical figure of 66 weekly flights should not be confused with Qatar Airways’ published Winter 2026/27 schedule.

Qatar Airways announced that its London Heathrow service would increase to 56 weekly flights from October 25, 2026. A later schedule filing published by AeroRoutes on October 15 showed 56 weekly flights through February 6, 2027, followed by 49 weekly flights from February 7, 2027.

This distinction is important because the 66-flight figure relates to the earlier 2025/26 winter period. The latest slot transfer confirms Qatar Airways’ continued access to six weekly Heathrow slots, but it does not establish that the airline will operate 66 weekly flights throughout Winter 2026/27.

The continued arrangement gives Qatar Airways additional flexibility at Heathrow while extending its cooperation with Oman Air into another scheduling period.

Stay tuned with us.
