DUBAI-<\/strong> Emirates (EK)<\/a> will deploy the Airbus A350 on its daily Dubai (DXB) to Durban (DUR) service from 1 March 2027. The aircraft will operate flights EK 775 and EK 776.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deployment brings Premium Economy to Durban and completes the cabin\u2019s rollout across all South African gateways, joining Cape Town (CPT) and Johannesburg (JNB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates Extends Premium Economy Across African Network<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emirates is expanding its A350<\/a> operations in South Africa as part of its wider effort to improve passenger comfort, international connectivity and onboard services. The Durban deployment will complete the airline’s Premium Economy rollout across its three South African gateways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since introducing Premium Economy<\/a> in Johannesburg and Cape Town in September 2025, Emirates has recorded consistently strong demand for the cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the airline, bookings have maintained healthy load factors across both inbound and outbound travel, with demand coming equally from leisure and corporate passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates, which describes itself as the world’s largest international airline, sees South Africa as an important market within its African network. The airline considers its South African gateways among its busiest globally and plans to continue investing in passenger experience, connectivity and cabin choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afzal Parambil, Regional Manager for Southern Africa at Emirates, said the airline looks forward to welcoming passengers from Durban aboard the A350. He highlighted the aircraft’s upgraded amenities, enhanced onboard experience and Emirates’ signature service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parambil also reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to South Africa, stating that the expansion will give passengers across all three gateways access to its latest inflight products and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growing International Travel Demand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Durban has a significant international travel market, particularly among passengers visiting friends and relatives overseas. Emirates identifies this segment as an important part of its passenger traffic to and from the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many passengers travelling from Durban connect through Dubai to reach international destinations across Asia and Europe. Popular destinations include Thailand, Indonesia, India, France and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The introduction of Premium Economy will allow passengers departing from Durban to access the upgraded cabin for their long-haul journeys to these destinations, subject to aircraft deployment and availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new option will particularly appeal to families, leisure travellers and corporate passengers seeking additional space and comfort without booking Business Class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By deploying the A350, Emirates will also bring its latest aircraft interiors and inflight technology to KwaZulu-Natal, strengthening its product offering in the South African market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emirates A350 Aircraft and Cabin Features<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A350 is the newest aircraft type to join Emirates’ fleet, which consists entirely of widebody aircraft. It features the airline’s latest cabin design, updated technology and enhanced entertainment systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft’s interiors focus on providing more personal space and comfort across its passenger cabins. Emirates has also introduced updated finishes, modern seating arrangements and improved onboard amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Durban A350 deployment will feature three passenger cabins: Premium Economy, Business Class and Economy Class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premium Economy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Premium Economy is the main highlight of the Durban deployment. Emirates describes its award-winning cabin as offering an experience comparable to Business Class on other airlines, with a focus on additional personal space, improved seating comfort and upgraded amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cabin features soft cream leather seats with generous legroom and recline. Each seat includes in-seat charging points, a wood-finished side cocktail table and a 13.3-inch personal entertainment screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seating arrangement follows a 2-4-2 configuration, making it suitable for families, couples and individual travellers seeking extra space on long-haul flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers travelling in Premium Economy from King Shaka International Airport will also receive dedicated check-in facilities and priority boarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
