LONDON-<\/strong> British Airways (BA)<\/a> flight BA899 was intercepted by 2 German Eurofighter Typhoons<\/a> on 17 October 2026 after communication with air traffic control (ATC) was lost near German airspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A321neo, registered as G-TNEH, was travelling from Paphos International Airport (PFO), Cyprus, to London Heathrow Airport (LHR)<\/a>, United Kingdom. Communication was restored, and the aircraft completed its journey with a safe landing in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred on 17 October 2026, while British Airways flight BA899 was approaching German airspace during its scheduled journey from Cyprus to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft was an Airbus A321-200N, also known as the A321neo<\/a>, with registration G-TNEH. As the aircraft was about to enter German airspace, communication with ATC was lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss of communication prompted the German military to scramble 2 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to intercept the passenger aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
