Instead, Emirates maintained daily connectivity using its Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

According to AeroRoutes’ July 2026 schedule update, Emirates scheduled Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in place of the A380 on both the Dubai to Prague and Dubai to Glasgow routes from July 1 through September 30. The changes reduced the availability of the superjumbo on these routes while preserving their regular service.

The accompanying route map, credited to Simple Flying, summarizes the affected network as two routes, three airports and 6,403 network miles. Dubai serves as the shared hub, connecting the airline’s A380 network with Prague in the Czech Republic and Glasgow in Scotland.

Emirates A380 Route Changes

Route

Aircraft During Q3 2026

A380 Return Schedule

Planned A380 Configuration

Dubai (DXB) to Prague (PRG)

Boeing 777-300ER

October 1, 2026

487-seat, four-class A380 initially; 569-seat, three-class version from October 25

Dubai (DXB) to Glasgow (GLA)

Boeing 777-300ER

October 30, according to the published schedule listing

519-seat, four-class A380 with First Class

The Glasgow date reflects the published schedule available on October 11, rather than the earlier October 1 return date reported in some coverage. The airline initially scheduled a 487-seat, four-class A380 featuring First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class.

A second change is scheduled for October 25, when Prague is due to receive Emirates’ newer 569-seat, three-class A380 configuration. According to Prague Airport, the revised aircraft will have 76 Business Class seats, 56 Premium Economy seats and 437 Economy Class seats.

The new configuration provides 82 additional seats compared with the 487-seat aircraft. It also introduces a different cabin arrangement by removing First Class and increasing the number of Economy Class seats while retaining Premium Economy.

This change forms part of Emirates’ wider A380 cabin modernization effort. The airline is adapting selected aircraft interiors to expand capacity and offer more passengers access to its Premium Economy product. Prague’s planned configuration demonstrates how an aircraft return can involve more than simply restoring the previous seating arrangement.

The additional seating also allows Emirates to increase capacity without adding another daily flight, provided the planned aircraft assignment and frequency remain unchanged.

Photo: Clément Alloing

Glasgow’s A380 Return Date Differs From Original Plan

The Glasgow route also used Boeing 777-300ER aircraft during the third quarter of 2026. However, the latest published schedule available on October 11 did not show the A380 returning on October 1.

Flight.info’s EK27 schedule lists the Boeing 777-300ER through October 29 and the Airbus A380 from October 30. The return schedule for EK28 also shows the transition later in October. Emirates’ own Dubai to Glasgow flight page continued to identify the Boeing 777 as the operating aircraft when checked.

The planned A380 configuration for Glasgow has 519 seats across four classes: First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class. It provides a larger seating capacity than the Boeing 777-300ER used during the summer substitution.

Glasgow’s return to A380 service would therefore restore more seats per departure rather than introduce a new route or increase the number of scheduled connections. Passengers should confirm the aircraft assigned to their travel dates because airline schedules remain subject to operational changes.

Emirates Economy; Photo- Emirates

What the Changes Mean for Passengers

Passengers travelling between Dubai and Prague or Glasgow retained access to Emirates’ scheduled direct services during the summer aircraft changes. However, the aircraft substitution affected the available seating capacity and potentially the cabin products offered on individual flights.

The return of the A380 restores greater capacity on these routes. Prague’s planned transition to a 569-seat aircraft also changes the balance between cabin classes, increasing the number of available seats while removing First Class from that particular configuration.

Glasgow’s planned 519-seat aircraft retains First Class alongside Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class. Its return would restore a four-class cabin with substantial passenger capacity.

These differences matter to passengers selecting a cabin, booking a particular service or comparing available seating options. The aircraft type and cabin configuration should be checked against the specific flight rather than assumed from the route alone.

Photo: By Anna Zvereva from Tallinn, Estonia – Emirates (United for Wildlife livery), A6-EER, Airbus A380-861, CC BY-SA 2.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=65214186

Emirates Maintains Both Destinations in Its Network

The changes to Prague and Glasgow illustrate how Emirates can adjust aircraft deployment without cancelling routes or reducing scheduled connectivity to a destination. Both cities continued receiving flights during the summer period, although the Boeing 777-300ER replaced the larger Airbus A380.

Prague regained A380 service on October 1, with the higher-capacity 569-seat configuration scheduled from October 25. Glasgow’s published schedule instead showed the Boeing 777-300ER continuing through October 29, followed by the A380 from October 30.

The difference between the two return dates highlights the importance of checking current schedules rather than relying on an earlier announcement.

Overall, the changes reflect a seasonal adjustment to aircraft capacity, with the A380 remaining an important part of Emirates’ long-haul network.

Stay tuned with us.
