{"id":159808,"date":"2026-10-08T08:34:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T03:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?p=159808"},"modified":"2026-10-08T02:05:33","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T20:35:33","slug":"singaporean-pilot-among-13-detained-after-521kg-meth-seized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/08\/singaporean-pilot-among-13-detained-after-521kg-meth-seized\/","title":{"rendered":"Singaporean Pilot Among 13 Detained After 521kg Meth Seized in Laos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>LAOS\u2014<\/strong> A <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=Singapore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Singaporean pilot<\/a> is among 13 people detained after Lao authorities seized 521kg of suspected methamphetamine from a private Learjet at Luang Prabang International Airport (LPQ) on October 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The aircraft had earlier departed <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/sultan-abdul-aziz-shah-airport\/\">Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB)<\/a> in Subang, Malaysia, but Malaysian police said it left without carrying the drug shipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Royal Malaysia Police said the aircraft carried three people on its flight from Subang: a Singaporean pilot, a Malaysian co-pilot and a Filipino passenger. The Lao nationals included three airport ground-handling employees and seven workers involved in operating X-ray scanning equipment, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/asia\/se-asia\/sporean-pilot-among-13-nabbed-over-521kg-meth-seizure-from-private-jet-in-laos\">The Straits Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case initially raised questions over whether the methamphetamine had originated in Malaysia because the aircraft had flown from Subang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> However, Malaysian narcotics authorities have since clarified that the aircraft reportedly departed Malaysia without the drug shipment before collecting the cargo in Laos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The clarification also changes the suspected route of the trafficking operation.
