NEW YORK\u2014<\/strong> Virgin Atlantic (VS)<\/a> is preparing a broad upgrade programme covering its aircraft cabins, inflight connectivity and airport lounges, with several changes scheduled to arrive between 2026 and 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline is increasing the number of premium seats across its fleet while preparing a full refurbishment of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plans also include a fleetwide Starlink rollout and further investment in Clubhouse lounges at London Heathrow (LHR) and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Atlantic is also examining ways to improve reciprocal award availability with Delta Air Lines, although no specific changes or timeline have been announced for the loyalty programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Atlantic Cabin Upgrades<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Atlantic is reshaping its long-haul fleet with a greater emphasis on premium seating. Ten Airbus A330-900neo aircraft<\/a> are joining from the third quarter of 2026, with each aircraft planned to have 48 Upper Class seats, six Retreat Suites and 56 Premium seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline will also retain 14 of its 17 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and give those aircraft a complete cabin refurbishment from 2028. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The redesigned Dreamliners are expected to feature 44 Upper Class seats, eight Retreat Suites and 56 Premium seats, creating substantially more premium capacity across the fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Atlantic executives have indicated that the airline expects to have about 30% more Business Class and Premium Economy seats available over the next four years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first refurbished 787-9 is scheduled to enter service by the end of 2028, subject to the technological, certification and supply-chain requirements involved in the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
