ISTANBUL-<\/strong> Turkish Airlines (TK)<\/a> has finalized an agreement with Boeing<\/a> for up to 150 737 MAX aircraft, including 100 firm 737-8 jets and options for 50 more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deal is the airline\u2019s largest Boeing single-aisle order and concludes discussions that began in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Airlines Expands with 150 Boeing 737 MAX Order<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Airlines has completed its planned 737 MAX agreement with Boeing, turning its 2025 commitment into a finalized order for up to 150 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement includes 100 Boeing 737-8 airplanes as a firm purchase and options for another 50 737 MAX jets. Boeing said the transaction supports the flag carrier\u2019s expansion plans and strengthens its short- and medium-haul network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deal is also important for the scale of the airline\u2019s Boeing relationship. Turkish Airlines describes the purchase as its largest Boeing single-aisle order, adding to its existing Boeing fleet and its investment in new-generation aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firm portion of the agreement covers 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The model will add capacity to Turkish Airlines\u2019 narrowbody fleet and provide the airline with additional aircraft for domestic and international routes where demand is strong. Boeing states that the 737-8 is designed for core short- and medium-haul markets, while the wider 737 MAX family combines operational flexibility with improved efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement also includes options for 50 additional 737 MAX aircraft. Because these are options rather than firm orders, Turkish Airlines retains flexibility over whether to take the additional aircraft as part of its future fleet planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

737-10 Substitution Adds Fleet Flexibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Airlines can substitute the 737-10 for aircraft covered by the agreement. Boeing identifies the 737-10 as the largest variant in the 737 MAX family, giving the airline an alternative with greater passenger capacity when route demand requires it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This provision gives Turkish Airlines more flexibility when matching aircraft size with market demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier can therefore use the 737 MAX order to support routes that require additional seats while keeping the fleet within the same aircraft family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boeing Fleet Already Exceeds 200<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Airlines, including AJet, operates more than 200 Boeing airplanes. The existing Boeing fleet includes the 737 MAX, 787 Dreamliner, 777, 737 Next-Generation and 777 Freighter families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding more 737-8 aircraft will allow the airline to build on its existing Boeing narrowbody operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft\u2019s range, payload flexibility and fuel efficiency are expected to support high-demand domestic and international routes across the carrier\u2019s network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 Boeing Commitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The finalized 737 MAX agreement concludes discussions that Turkish Airlines and Boeing initiated in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest deal builds on the airline\u2019s 2025 order for up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which formed part of a wider fleet and network expansion program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 Boeing announcement described the 787 purchase as Turkish Airlines\u2019 largest Boeing widebody purchase and stated that the combined 787 and 737 MAX commitments would support the carrier\u2019s capacity and network expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new 737 MAX aircraft are intended to support Turkish Airlines\u2019 extensive network from its Istanbul hub. Prof. Murat \u015eeker, chairman of the airline\u2019s board and executive committee, said the aircraft would provide greater efficiency and flexibility while supporting the network operated from Istanbul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Istanbul Airport (IST) is Turkish Airlines\u2019 current main hub. Turkish Airlines describes Istanbul Airport as its new home, while T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s State Airports Authority identifies the airport as IST with the ICAO code LTFM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operating Goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Boeing states that the 737 MAX family reduces fuel use and emissions by 20% compared with the airplanes it replaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Turkish Airlines, the stated efficiency benefit supports its growth strategy by helping the carrier expand capacity while pursuing lower operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 737 MAX family also offers commonality across its variants. Boeing highlights common flight crews, mechanics, maintenance facilities and other operational resources as advantages of operating aircraft within the same family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agreement Includes Turkish Aviation Support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The order is accompanied by industrial participation as part of Boeing\u2019s continuing support for T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s aviation ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Airlines said the agreement would build on its longstanding cooperation with Boeing while also supporting the country\u2019s wider aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final Agreement Signed in Erdo\u011fan\u2019s Presence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 737 MAX agreement was finalized in the presence of Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, president of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signing formally completes the discussions launched in 2025 and establishes the final structure of the up to 150-aircraft narrowbody commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The completed agreement gives Turkish Airlines 100 firm 737-8 aircraft, options for 50 additional 737 MAX jets and substitution rights for the 737-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, these provisions provide the airline with additional narrowbody capacity and flexibility as it continues expanding its network from Istanbul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
