ABU DHABI-<\/strong> Etihad Airways (EY)<\/a>, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will open its transformed London Heathrow Airport (LHR) Lounge in summer 2027 as the first Etihad lounge to introduce the new Beyond Borders design language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Heathrow project will launch a new generation of Etihad lounges, extending an Abu Dhabi-inspired design concept across the airline’s global network and connecting the airport, lounge, aircraft and wider guest journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

London Heathrow to Launch Etihad’s Next Lounge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The refurbished Etihad Lounge at London Heathrow<\/a> will be the first lounge to fully introduce the airline’s new Beyond Borders design language on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its opening in summer 2027 will mark the start of a wider lounge expansion and a new design cycle for Etihad’s premium airport experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new lounge concept forms part of Etihad’s broader Beyond Borders product and experience strategy. The airline is working to create greater consistency across the guest journey as it continues to invest in aircraft, lounges, dining, amenities, wellbeing, connectivity and service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than making every lounge or aircraft identical, Etihad plans to establish recognisable design and hospitality touchpoints that connect different parts of the journey while allowing individual locations to reflect their surroundings and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beyond Borders design language was created in Abu Dhabi and draws on the concept of “from sand to superstructure.” The idea takes inspiration from the emirate’s natural landscape, architecture and transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design approach first appeared through Etihad’s new aircraft interiors and will now extend into the lounge environment. Shared materials, textures, lighting and distinctive design details will help create a consistent visual identity across aircraft and airport spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This strategy is designed to give guests familiar Etihad elements throughout their journey without requiring every location to look the same. Each lounge can maintain its own character while remaining connected to the wider Etihad brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heathrow Lounge to Introduce Full Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The transformed London Heathrow Lounge will provide the first complete expression of the new lounge design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etihad has already offered an early preview of the concept through a showpiece central feature and a new bar design presented at its ATM stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These elements are planned to form part of the Heathrow lounge, giving guests an early indication of the design direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Heathrow project will also establish principles that Etihad intends to carry into future lounges across its network. These spaces are planned as premium gateways into the wider Etihad experience, combining the new design language with consistent hospitality standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dedicated Spaces for Premium Guests<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The next generation of Etihad lounges will include dedicated spaces for Business and First guests. Private suites will also be available for guests travelling in The Residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The layout supports Etihad’s premium travel offering by creating distinct environments for different guest categories while maintaining a unified lounge identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus extends beyond physical space. Dining, wellbeing, connectivity, amenities and service are also part of the wider experience Etihad is developing under the Beyond Borders programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
