NEW YORK\u2014<\/strong> JetBlue Airways (B6)<\/a> has reportedly removed two Airbus A320 aircraft from regular service for conversion into an all-VIP configuration, with the aircraft expected to return to operations by October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reconfigured jets are reportedly being prepared for charter work, including transportation for professional sports teams across North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reported move would mark a new use of the Airbus A320 fleet for JetBlue, which operates a large single-aisle fleet alongside its Airbus A220<\/a> and A321 families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue’s fleet included 129 A320s, 102 A321s and 65 A220s as of June 30, 2026, although the figures include aircraft temporarily removed from service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue’s VIP A320s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Aviation insider JonNYC reported that two JetBlue A320s are undergoing conversion to an all-VIP cabin and could be used to transport National Hockey League teams around North America. JetBlue has not publicly confirmed the reported configuration, its exact seat count, or the identities of the aircraft involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reported conversion would give JetBlue a dedicated option for large-group charter operations rather than relying solely on its standard scheduled configurations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline already operates multiple A320 and A321 cabin layouts, while its fleet strategy continues to emphasize Airbus narrowbody aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue’s current A320 fleet normally operates with high-density seating. Its published seat information lists the A320 Classic with 150 seats and the A320 Restyled with 162 seats, both using a 3-3 configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports Charter Demand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An all-VIP A320 could be particularly useful for sports teams that need to move players, coaches and support personnel together while carrying equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dedicated charters also allow groups to operate according to their own schedules instead of coordinating travel around public flight timetables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NHL provides a potential market because teams regularly travel between cities in the United States and Canada during the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dedicated aircraft can also give teams greater control over seating arrangements, baggage, and onboard service compared with conventional commercial travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue’s reported entry into this segment would place it alongside US airlines and charter operators that have experience serving premium group travel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strategy could provide another source of charter demand while the airline continues developing its broader premium offering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BlueFirst Cabin Plans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue’s upcoming BlueFirst product provides some indication of how the airline is expanding its premium domestic offering, although there is no confirmation that these seats will be installed on the two reported VIP aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BlueFirst uses a 2-2 arrangement with wide recliner seats, up to seven inches of additional legroom compared with JetBlue’s Main seats and five inches of recline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each seat also includes a 13.3-inch entertainment screen, in-seat power, and Bluetooth connectivity, Simple Flying<\/a> flagged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline says BlueFirst will enter service later in 2026. However, the reported A320 charter conversion could involve a different cabin design specifically suited to private group operations, meaning the final layout may not mirror JetBlue’s scheduled first-class product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For JetBlue, the reported conversion would add another dimension to its Airbus A320 fleet and potentially strengthen its position in the growing market for premium group and sports-team transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
