PARIS\u2014<\/strong> A 22-year-old woman has accused a fellow passenger of sexually assaulting her after she lost consciousness during a Ryanair (FR)<\/a> flight from Malta to Nantes, France (NTE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The alleged incident occurred on July 19, 2026, and French authorities have since charged a 39-year-old man in connection with the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman reportedly became unwell shortly after takeoff because of a headache and fainted in her seat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to investigators, she later regained consciousness and alleged that the man seated beside her had kissed her neck before continuing to touch her without her consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assault Allegation Aboard Ryanair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The passenger was reportedly seated in the middle seat of a three-seat row when she became unconscious, with her head falling onto the shoulder of the passenger beside her. After waking, she alleged that the man moved her toward the window and pressed himself against her while touching her under her clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said she eventually managed to pull away when he allegedly put his hands underneath her shorts and touched her underwear. After the aircraft arrived in Nantes, she told members of her family about what had happened before contacting authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

French investigators subsequently examined the woman’s clothing as part of the investigation. She also underwent a forensic medical examination at Nantes University Hospital as authorities worked to establish evidence relating to the allegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suspect Arrested<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The investigation led authorities to identify a 39-year-old Tunisian man who was reportedly entered into a wanted-persons database. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was arrested on August 31 at Nantes Airport after returning to France on a flight from Tunisia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect appeared before a judge on September 2 and was charged with sexual assault of a vulnerable person. Prosecutors said he acknowledged being seated beside the woman during the flight but denied committing the alleged assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man, who has reportedly never previously been convicted, was placed in pre-trial detention while the judicial investigation continues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A psychiatric assessment has also been ordered, and his trial is scheduled for October 28, Daily Mail reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
