Cabin crew physically demonstrate how to fasten and release seat belts, use oxygen masks, and put on and inflate life jackets.

The demonstration must also remain synchronized with a pre-recorded announcement played from the aircraft’s front. That timing leaves little room for hesitation because crew members need to move from one safety item to another as the audio progresses.

The previous English-language demonstration, used in 2025, lasted about 3 minutes and 25 seconds. The 2026 version cuts almost 40 seconds from that sequence, bringing the demonstration to roughly 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

Photo :Tony Brierton | Wikimedia Commons |

Crew Struggle With New Timing

The shorter recording has reportedly produced an unexpected reaction among some cabin crew. Rather than welcoming the faster pace, crew members have described difficulty keeping up with the sequence and reaching the next demonstration kit in time.

One crew member described the movements as being like “spinning ballerinas,” while another said there was barely enough time to pick up the next demonstration kit.

The comments highlight the practical challenge of performing a highly timed safety routine at a faster pace.

Ryanair’s cabin crew training places strong emphasis on safety procedures and emergency equipment. The airline’s current recruitment information also describes cabin crew work as demanding and states that safety remains the number-one priority.

Photo: Ryanair

Turnaround Pressure Across Ryanair Network

The faster demonstration fits into Ryanair’s wider focus on rapid aircraft turnarounds. The airline schedules some aircraft to complete a turnaround in about 25 minutes, placing pressure on ground operations, cabin preparation and passenger boarding.

A shorter safety announcement can save time during the pre-departure sequence, but the crew still has to deliver each demonstration clearly and correctly.

The change therefore creates a balance between operational efficiency and the need to give passengers enough time to understand essential safety instructions.

Ryanair’s approach also reflects a broader airline debate over the ideal length of safety briefings.

Qantas previously faced criticism over a safety video that ran for almost 10 minutes before shortening it, while Alaska Airlines introduced its first safety video for its Boeing 787 operation in 2026, PYOK reported.

For Ryanair, the latest change shows how even a routine part of the boarding process can affect cabin crew workload. The airline’s challenge will be maintaining a precise and understandable safety demonstration while keeping pace with its highly streamlined operating model.

Stay tuned with us.
