Singapore Airlines (SQ) Flight SQ22 departed Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) at approximately 11:35 p.m. local time on August 12 for Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)<\/a>, one of the airline’s flagship ultra-long-haul routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after takeoff, the flight crew identified a technical issue that required the aircraft to return to Singapore as a precaution. In response to media inquiries, Singapore Airlines later confirmed that the problem involved the Airbus A350-900ULR’s hydraulic system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft landed safely at Singapore Changi Airport at 3:06 a.m. on August 13. According to the airline, the aircraft was subsequently towed to a remote parking bay, where maintenance teams carried out the required inspections and repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers Moved to Replacement Aircraft<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Because the aircraft had to remain at a remote maintenance stand, all 133 passengers and 17 crew members<\/strong> disembarked using buses before returning to the airport terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the aircraft change, Flight SQ22 completed its journey to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), arriving at approximately 12:15 p.m. local time on August 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SQ22 covers approximately 16,700 kilometers and typically takes more than 18 hours to complete, making it one of the world’s longest nonstop commercial passenger services<\/a>.
