Smith and New Livery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>MEMPHIS\u2014<\/strong> FedEx has marked a major milestone in the history of Memphis International Airport (MEM), officially dedicating the facility as Frederick W. Smith International Airport in honor of the late founder of FedEx.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony on August 11, 2026, brought together the Memphis community, airport officials and FedEx team members to recognize Smith\u2019s influence on aviation, logistics, and the city\u2019s economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/fedex-express\/\">FedEx Express (FX)<\/a> joined the celebration as the airport dedication coincided with the first FWS Day of Service, a company-wide initiative inspired by Smith\u2019s commitment to civic leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The event also highlighted the deep relationship between FedEx and Memphis, where Smith established Federal Express in 1973 because of the city\u2019s strategic location and dependable weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1126\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/download-2.webp\" alt=\"Memphis Airport Renamed After FedEx Legend Frederick W. He supported Memphis\u2019 economic and civic development while maintaining a close partnership between FedEx, local authorities, and the airport, strengthening the region\u2019s role in global commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FedEx also unveiled a new mural along Plough Boulevard as part of the dedication. More than 120 FedEx Cares volunteer and community impact events are taking place worldwide during the week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam said every aircraft, person, and package passing through the renamed airport would carry the spirit of the company\u2019s founder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Richard W.
