SEATAC-<\/strong> Alaska Airlines (AS)<\/a> is expanding its Korean Air (KE)<\/a> codeshare network beyond Seoul, adding 5 routes that connect through Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) to Bangkok (BKK), Busan (PUS), Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), and Singapore (SIN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion begins August 13, 2026, and gives travelers a simpler way to book certain Asia trips on an Alaska-marketed itinerary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Korean Air Connections Expand Alaska’s Asia Network<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alaska Airlines will add its flight numbers to 5 Korean Air routes beginning August 13, 2026. AeroRoutes<\/a> was the first source cited for the expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion extends Alaska’s existing relationship with Korean Air beyond Seoul. Alaska already markets Korean Air flights between the United States and Seoul, allowing the airline to add Korean Air’s connecting network to its own international offering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, a traveler could search for a Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Singapore (SIN)<\/a> itinerary through Alaska, connect at Seoul Incheon (ICN)<\/a>, and continue to Singapore on a Korean Air-operated flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This gives Alaska a broader Asia network without requiring the airline to operate its own aircraft on every new route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new codeshare is particularly useful for travelers who prefer to purchase their entire journey on one ticket rather than combine separate bookings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Seattle to Singapore itinerary, for example, can connect through Seoul under Alaska’s marketing code while Korean Air operates the onward ICN-SIN segment. The same concept applies to Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Busan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atmos Rewards Members Catch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The main limitation appears when travelers switch from cash fares to award travel. The new itineraries were available when searching for paid fares. However, when the search was switched to redeem Atmos Rewards points<\/a>, those same options did not appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The search also showed Korean Air, Japan Airlines<\/a>, and Singapore Airlines<\/a> options disappearing when the award search was selected, leaving award availability on other carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That creates an important distinction:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
