The revised policy takes effect on August 25, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time, <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/american-airlines-aadvantage\/\">AAdvantage elite members<\/a> will become officially eligible for complimentary upgrades to Premium Economy when eligible seats are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upgrades will continue to clear on a space-available basis, following each elite member&#8217;s existing complimentary upgrade window and priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the addition of complimentary Premium Economy upgrades appears beneficial, it also introduces a major change to the airline&#8217;s long-standing upgrade process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/news\/american-premium-economy-upgrades-elites-ends-double-upgrades-business-class\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OMAAT<\/a>, the revised policy aligns Premium Economy with American Airlines&#8217;
