TENERIFE-<\/strong> A flight operated by easyJet (U2)<\/a> from Tenerife South Airport (TFS), Spain, to Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL), United Kingdom, was forced to turn back shortly after departure following a major passenger disturbance onboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident unfolded on Tuesday evening when a fight involving around 10 passengers erupted approximately 30 minutes into the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A320<\/a>, carrying 186 passengers, returned to Tenerife South Airport after the captain determined that the altercation posed a risk to the safety of the flight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spanish police met the aircraft upon landing after the crew requested law enforcement assistance, allowing the flight to resume its journey to Liverpool later that evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Spanish air traffic control, the crew notified controllers that a group of passengers had become involved in a large-scale fight while the aircraft was en route over the Atlantic, prompting the captain to abandon the flight and return to Tenerife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Controllers said they prioritized the aircraft’s return<\/a> while coordinating with airport authorities to ensure police officers were waiting at the gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials stated that the decision was made because the disturbance created a safety concern that could not be ignored during flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EasyJet’s Response to the Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

easyJet confirmed that the aircraft returned to Tenerife because of a group of disruptive passengers. The airline said police met the flight upon arrival before it continued to its original destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier emphasized that the safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew remain its highest priority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
