FARNBOROUGH-<\/strong> The Bombardier Global 8000<\/a> business jet has set a new speed record on a flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Farnborough (FAB) in the United Kingdom, completing the city pair in 8 hours and 46 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft reached a top speed of Mach 0.93 despite unfavorable tailwinds on the transatlantic route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The record run carried the jet to the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow<\/a> for its first ever aerial display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Global 8000 is the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde, with a top speed of Mach 0.95, an 8,000 nautical mile range, and the lowest cabin altitude in production business aviation at 2,691 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Speed Record on the Los Angeles to Farnborough Route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bombardier<\/a> announced that its flagship Global 8000 set the new record on the route between Los Angeles and Farnborough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft covered the city pair in 8 hours and 46 minutes while reaching a top speed of Mach 0.93, overcoming unfavorable tailwinds during the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Bombardier, the run was 2.2 percent faster than the previous record for the same city pair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result adds to the growing list of speed records earned by the Global 8000. It also builds on the industry-leading record tally of its predecessor, the Global 7500<\/a>, which entered service in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Global 8000 pairs high speed with long range. It carries a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles, which supports nonstop travel between more city pairs than competing business jets. The aircraft is powered by 2 General Electric Passport engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger comfort is a core part of the design. The jet features a 4 zone cabin and the lowest cabin altitude in production business aviation at 2,691 feet, which helps reduce fatigue on long flights. Bombardier pairs this with what it calls a signature smooth ride and a luxurious cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to More Airports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beyond speed and range, the Global 8000 offers strong airport access. The manufacturer says the aircraft can reach up to 30% more airports than its nearest competitor because of its short-field landing performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That capability lets passengers fly closer to their final destinations and gives operators more flexibility when planning missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combination of speed, range, and airport access forms the core of Bombardier’s pitch for the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Certification to Farnborough Debut<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Global 8000 entered service on December 8, 2025, at a delivery ceremony near Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)<\/a> in Mississauga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The type earned its Transport Canada certificate on November 5, 2025, followed by United States Federal Aviation Administration<\/a> approval on December 19, 2025. The aircraft is the fastest civil jet to enter service since the Concorde retired in 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Farnborough record marks one of the newest milestones for the program since it began deliveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speed run gave Bombardier a high-profile performance marker to time with the jet’s public debut in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farnborough 2026 Displays<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
