ROME\u2014<\/strong> Air Arabia (G9)<\/a> has launched a new nonstop route between Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) and Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), making the Italian capital the airline\u2019s second destination in Italy after Milan Bergamo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new service expands the carrier\u2019s European network while strengthening travel links between the United Arab Emirates and Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route operates five weekly nonstop flights, giving passengers more affordable travel options and improved connectivity between Sharjah and Rome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch also supports growing demand for tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange while reinforcing Air Arabia\u2019s long-term expansion strategy across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Arabia Starts Rome Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air Arabia celebrated the inaugural service with ceremonies at both Sharjah International Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior officials from the Sharjah Airport Authority, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Italian Consulate, Aeroporti di Roma, and Air Arabia attended the events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Group Chief Executive Officer Adel Al Ali<\/strong> described Italy as a key market for the airline and said the Rome route further strengthens Air Arabia\u2019s presence in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the new service gives travelers greater choice while supporting the airline\u2019s strategy of connecting people, businesses, and cultures through reliable, value-focused operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharjah Airport Authority Chairman Ali Salim Al Midfa said the addition of Rome reflects the airport\u2019s commitment to expanding its European footprint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that Rome\u2019s importance as a major tourism, historical, and business destination makes it a valuable addition to Sharjah\u2019s growing international network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Arabia’s European Network Growth Strategy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Rome service further expands Air Arabia\u2019s European network from Sharjah, which already includes destinations such as Milan Bergamo, Munich, Vienna<\/a>, Athens, Prague, Krakow, Warsaw Chopin, Warsaw Modlin, and London Gatwick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest addition strengthens the airline\u2019s position in Europe while increasing travel opportunities between the UAE and the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivan Bassato, Chief Aviation Officer of Aeroporti di Roma, said the new route enhances Rome Fiumicino\u2019s intercontinental connectivity and reinforces its role as a gateway between Italy and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted Sharjah as one of the UAE\u2019s largest metropolitan areas and noted that stronger links with the emirate will support a market that welcomed more than two million passengers in 2025, representing a five percent increase from the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch also reflects continued demand for direct services between Italy and the Gulf region as airlines expand their international networks with new point-to-point routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus A320neo Operational Efficiency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air Arabia operates the Sharjah\u2013Rome route using its latest Airbus A320neo aircraft<\/a>. The fuel-efficient aircraft supports the airline\u2019s efforts to improve operational efficiency while reducing emissions compared with previous-generation models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers traveling on the new service can access Air Arabia\u2019s onboard streaming platform, SkyTime, purchase meals through the SkyCafe menu, and earn rewards through the Air Rewards loyalty program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline continues to operate a modern fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft across its growing network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
