SINGAPORE-<\/strong> Singapore Airlines (SQ)<\/a> will significantly increase premium cabin capacity between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN)<\/a> and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)<\/a> from January 1, 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline will deploy a second Boeing 777-300ER<\/a> on the route during the Northern Winter schedule, expanding the number of available First Class and Suites seats on the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft upgrade applies to one of the carrier’s four daily Shanghai services and will remain in effect until March 27, 2027. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides increasing First Class availability, the move also introduces a larger Business Class cabin and restores Premium Economy on the affected flights, strengthening the airline’s premium offering on one of its busiest regional routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Airlines’ Premium Capacity Boost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The schedule change replaces the Boeing 787-10 currently operating flights SQ836 from Singapore and SQ825 from Shanghai with the larger Boeing 777-300ER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the adjustment, Singapore Airlines offered a total of 10 First Class and Suites seats daily between the two cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those seats were spread across one Boeing 777-300ER service with four First Class seats and one Airbus A380 flight featuring six Suites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning January 1, 2027, the additional Boeing 777-300ER will raise that figure to 14 premium seats per day. The increase represents a 40% jump in First Class and Suites capacity, giving travelers three daily flights with the airline’s highest cabin instead of two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A380 will continue operating one daily rotation throughout the winter schedule, while an Airbus A350 Medium Haul will continue serving another frequency without a First Class cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The revised arrangement restores a network pattern that closely resembles Singapore Airlines’ Shanghai operation before the COVID-19 pandemic, when the carrier also scheduled two Boeing 777-300ER flights alongside an Airbus A380.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Class Upgrade on SQ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft substitution delivers benefits beyond the First Class cabin. The Boeing 777-300ER features Singapore Airlines’ long-haul 2013 Business Class seat, replacing the narrower 2018 Regional Business Class product installed on the Boeing 787-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Class capacity will increase from 36 seats to 48 seats on the affected flights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The change is particularly valuable for passengers traveling on the overnight departure from Shanghai, where a fully flat long-haul seat provides a more comfortable rest before arriving in Singapore early the following morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 777-300ER also reintroduces a Premium Economy cabin with 28 seats on these services, giving travelers another booking option that has been unavailable on this frequency for some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While premium seating expands, Economy Class capacity decreases because the Boeing 777-300ER carries 184 Economy passengers compared with 301 seats on the Boeing 787-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Airlines’ Route Strategy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The enhanced schedule remains available through March 27, 2027, marking the end of the Northern Winter timetable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current schedules indicate that the Airbus A380 may leave the Shanghai route from late March 2027 as the airline transitions into its summer schedule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If those plans remain unchanged, First Class capacity would reduce to two daily Boeing 777-300ER flights, although aircraft assignments for the summer season are still subject to revision, Mainly Miles<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
