LAHORE\u2014<\/strong> Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)<\/a> has expanded its United Kingdom <\/a>network by launching a new nonstop service between Lahore (LHE) and Manchester (MAN), adding another direct link for travelers and the large Pakistani community living in Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inaugural Lahore-to-Manchester flight departed with 325 passengers on board, marking the airline\u2019s latest international route expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new service complements PIA\u2019s existing Islamabad (ISB)-Manchester operations, which resumed in late 2025 after the United Kingdom removed Pakistan from its Air Safety List. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the addition of the Lahore route, the carrier now operates five weekly flights between Pakistan and Manchester, improving travel options for passengers while supporting stronger business, tourism, and family connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan Airlines Lahore to Manchester Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The launch of the Lahore-Manchester service represents another step in PIA\u2019s effort to rebuild and expand its international network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the new route, the airline served Manchester with four weekly flights from Islamabad. The additional Lahore flight increases the total frequency to five weekly services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An inaugural ceremony was held at Lahore Airport before the first departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airline officials attended the event as passengers boarded Flight PK709<\/strong>, while a corresponding Manchester-to-Lahore service had departed the previous evening, officially establishing two-way operations on the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers welcomed the return of direct connectivity between Lahore and Manchester, noting that the service reduces travel time and eliminates the need for connecting flights through Middle Eastern or European hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route is expected to benefit families, business travelers, and overseas Pakistanis who regularly travel between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UK Network Growth After Relaunch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PIA\u2019s latest expansion follows the restoration of its UK operations after several years of restrictions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistani airlines were previously prohibited from operating flights to Britain following safety concerns that emerged after the 2020 Airbus A320 crash in Karachi and the subsequent investigation into pilot licensing standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following regulatory improvements, the United Kingdom removed Pakistan from its Air Safety List in 2025, allowing Pakistani airlines to apply for operating rights once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PIA subsequently resumed flights to Manchester from Islamabad before gradually expanding its UK network with additional destinations and frequencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline views the Lahore-Manchester service as another milestone in rebuilding passenger confidence and restoring direct international connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route also strengthens links with one of the world’s largest overseas Pakistani communities, with more than 1.6 million people of Pakistani heritage living across the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PIA Future Network Expansion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The network expansion comes during a period of transformation for PIA following its privatization in 2025. A consortium led by Arif Habib Corporation acquired a 75% stake in the airline, with the new ownership outlining plans to modernize operations and strengthen international services, Arab News <\/a>reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company’s strategy includes expanding its route network, improving passenger service standards, and increasing fleet capacity with additional aircraft over the coming years. Growing direct services to key international markets remains a central part of that plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lahore-Manchester route aligns with those objectives by providing greater connectivity between Pakistan and the United Kingdom while supporting trade, tourism, education, and family travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As PIA continues rebuilding its international presence, the airline is expected to evaluate further opportunities to strengthen its overseas network where passenger demand remains strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
