BANGKOK-<\/strong> The family of a 17 year old Thai girl whose body was found inside a suitcase has voiced deep grief over her death, after an Australian man was arrested and charged with her murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police detained the suspect at Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK)<\/a> in Samut Prakan as he prepared to board a flight back to Australia on June 27, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The killing took place in Pattaya, located about 150 kilometres (93 miles) east of Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Reuters, Thai authorities arrested the man, identified as Simon Peter Carman, early on Saturday and charged him with several serious offences, including murder and concealment of a body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australian Suspect Detained Before Leaving Thailand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thai police arrested Carman, a man in his 40s, at Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) as he attempted to leave the country. Officers acted on an arrest warrant issued during the investigation into the teenager’s death in Pattaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect now faces charges of murder, concealment of a body, moving or destroying a body, and taking a minor for sexual purposes. Police presented him at the airport before transferring him for further legal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage to build their case. The recordings showed Carman entering a condominium with the girl and later leaving alone, hours afterward, while carrying a suitcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the police said the suspect loaded the suitcase onto a motorcycle and rode to a grassy area near a railway line. Authorities later issued an arrest warrant and apprehended him at the airport before his planned departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside an investigation room at the police station, Carman addressed the victim’s family before he was moved to the Pattaya Provincial Court. “I feel bad for what happened to your daughter. It was out of my control,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family Demands Harshest Punishment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The victim’s father, Thongchai Donhomla, 46, said he was struggling to come to terms with the loss. “I am deeply saddened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My daughter had no mother, so whenever she wanted anything, she would find a way herself, and she always helped me too,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her stepmother, Oradee Bussarakum, called for the suspect to face the most severe consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I told the police I want him executed. As a (step)mother, I don’t know what else to say … I just want him to face the full consequences,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have not yet confirmed when Carman will make his first court appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
