GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Air India (AI)<\/a> and IndiGo (6E)<\/a> aircraft came face to face on a taxiway at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad (AMD), on Wednesday evening, June 24, 2026. The Air India aircraft took a wrong turn while taxiing, bringing the two jets nose to nose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both aircraft halted at a safe distance from each other. The Air India flight had arrived from Mumbai (BOM), while the IndiGo aircraft was preparing to depart for Mumbai (BOM), HT<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India IndiGo Close Encounter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The incident took place at around 8 pm on Wednesday. Air India flight AI2493, arriving from Mumbai, was instructed to taxi to Stand 34L via taxiways C and G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this movement, the aircraft took a wrong turn and ended up facing IndiGo flight 6E 5160, which was taxiing out for the Ahmedabad<\/a> to Mumbai departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A considerable distance remained between the two aircraft on the taxiway. Air traffic control instructed the IndiGo flight to give way to the Air India aircraft. Both jets came to a stop without any contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Confirms Wrong Turn During Taxiing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India confirmed the event in a statement. The airline said flight AI2493<\/strong>, operating from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on June 24, inadvertently took a wrong turn during taxiing after landing. It stated there was no compromise on the safety of passengers and crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline added that the aircraft was towed back to the parking bay. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Reports Brief Delay Before Safe Departure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo said its flight 6E 5160<\/strong>, scheduled to operate from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on June 24, 2026, was briefly delayed while taxiing out for departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delay occurred after an aircraft of another airline took an incorrect turn and came in the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both aircraft came to a halt at a safe distance from each other. The other aircraft was later towed away, after which the IndiGo flight departed and landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai (BOM).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo stated that the relevant authorities were immediately informed in line with established protocols. The airline reiterated that the safety and security of its customers, crew, and aircraft remain its top priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wrong turn was contained before any risk to the aircraft, and normal operations at the airport continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
