KUALA LUMPUR\u2014<\/strong> A Singapore Airlines (SQ)<\/a> flight bound for Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) <\/a>experienced a lengthy delay on June 21 after the aircraft assigned to the service encountered tyre problems earlier in the day at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disruption forced the airline to deploy a replacement aircraft, affecting passengers traveling on the return sector to Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight SQ113 was originally scheduled to depart Kuala Lumpur at 2:35 p.m. local time. However, operational challenges linked to the earlier incident delayed the service by nearly six hours before it finally departed in the evening with 143 passengers and eight crew members on board, The Straits Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Flight Delay Incident Update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The delay stemmed from an issue involving a Boeing 737-8 operating Singapore Airlines flight SQ114 from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur earlier that day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, two tyres on the aircraft reportedly deflated, preventing the jet from continuing normal operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airport personnel subsequently towed the aircraft to a remote parking position. All 152 passengers and eight crew members safely disembarked and were transported to the terminal by bus while maintenance teams assessed the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the affected aircraft could not immediately operate the return flight, Singapore Airlines arranged for a replacement Boeing 737-8 to be flown into Kuala Lumpur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight tracking data showed the substitute aircraft arrived in Malaysia during the evening before preparations began for the delayed departure to Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The replacement flight eventually departed at 8:27 p.m. and landed at Singapore Changi Airport at 9:38 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger Assistance Measures During Delay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the extended wait, Singapore Airlines provided support to affected travelers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Passengers received refreshments, meal vouchers, and assistance with travel arrangements where necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline also worked to accommodate customers with onward connections that may have been affected by the disruption. Several passengers received updates through text messages as departure times continued to change throughout the afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, travelers were informed that technical issues involving the aircraft’s previous sector had delayed the departure. Later notifications reflected additional operational adjustments, including weather-related considerations in Singapore that contributed to the final departure timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers who remained at the airport during the delay were provided with snacks and beverages. Those already onboard the replacement aircraft also received refreshments while awaiting final clearance for departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent Tyre Incidents Raise Concerns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The June 21 event marked the second tyre-related occurrence involving a Singapore Airlines flight arriving in Kuala Lumpur within a span of just over a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in mid-June, another Singapore Airlines Boeing 737-8 reportedly experienced a tyre issue while landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. That aircraft also required towing following its arrival, resulting in operational disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Airlines stated that safety remains its highest priority and emphasized that maintenance teams have since replaced the affected tyres on the aircraft involved in the latest incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier indicated that the aircraft is expected to return to normal service following the completion of required inspections and maintenance procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
