BENGALURU-<\/strong> Air India Express (IX)<\/a> has rebuilt its Middle East network following disruptions caused by the Iran-Israel conflict earlier this year. The airline has restored several services from Bengaluru (BLR), its largest hub, while also bringing back flights from cities across southern and northern India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest schedule updates indicate that the Tata Group carrier is steadily returning capacity to the Gulf region after months of cancellations and temporary suspensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express Recovering Middle East Ops<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The conflict between Iran and Israel triggered widespread disruption across West Asia. Airspace restrictions forced many airlines to suspend flights or operate with revised routings. Air India Express also adjusted its schedule and temporarily reduced operations to several destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As conditions improved, the airline began restoring services in phases. Muscat emerged as one of the first destinations to regain connectivity. Air India Express gradually expanded operations to other Gulf cities as authorities eased restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the peak of the disruptions, Air India and Air India Express operated several non-scheduled flights to support stranded passengers. The Air India Group<\/a> frequently adjusted capacity based on regulatory approvals and prevailing conditions. On some days, the two carriers jointly operated as many as 80 flights to and from West Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AI group deployed extra flights to key destinations, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Jeddah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bengaluru: Largest Base<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bengaluru, the airline’s largest hub, has played a central role in the restoration effort. According to the latest network update, Air India Express has resumed several Middle East routes from Bengaluru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These include services to Abu Dhabi<\/a>, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Kuwait. The airline also started its first-ever flights from Bengaluru to Dubai and Doha in early June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resumption and new services strengthen connectivity between Bengaluru and the Gulf countries. The region hosts a large Indian expatriate population and generates strong year-round demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from Bengaluru, the airline has also restored services from Kochi, Kozhikode, Kannur, Mangaluru, Tiruchirappalli, and Thiruvananthapuram. Several northern Indian cities have also regained Gulf links. These include Delhi,<\/a> Amritsar, Jaipur, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Varanasi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focus on Core Markets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express derives a significant share of its international traffic from the Middle East. The region remains one of the airline’s most important markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier currently serves 17 international destinations and operates more than 500 daily flights with a fleet of Boeing 737<\/a> and Airbus A320 family aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express focuses heavily on short- and medium-haul routes. Many of these services cater to labour and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) traffic across the Gulf, which provides strong and relatively stable demand throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, Air India Group announced the re-evaluation of its fleet and growth plans. Recent reports suggest that the group is considering deferring some aircraft deliveries and moderating capacity expansion amid supply chain challenges and evolving market conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Against this backdrop, restoring Gulf connectivity allows Air India Express to concentrate on its most established international markets. The strong demand profile of these routes has also enabled the airline to recover quickly following the Iran-Israel-related disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
