JEWAR-<\/strong> Noida International Airport (DXN)<\/a> completed a full-scale aircraft turnaround trial on June 9, conducted in partnership with IndiGo (6E) and key airport stakeholders as part of its operational readiness, activation and transition (ORAT) programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise simulated a complete aircraft turnaround on the airside to confirm the readiness of systems and ground processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The greenfield airport at Jewar (DXN), located in the National Capital Region, will begin commercial domestic operations from June 15. The trial formed part of a structured series of ORAT exercises designed to test coordination across operational interfaces before the airport opens to passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noida Airport Conducts Aircraft Turnaround<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airport said the June 9 trial recreated a live turnaround sequence on the airside, allowing teams to verify how multiple systems, processes, and stakeholders work together under realistic conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drill checked the coordination required between airport infrastructure, ground staff, and airline operations during the limited window an aircraft spends parked at a gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise validated several pieces of critical airport infrastructure, including visual docking guidance systems (VDGS), passenger boarding bridges, and ground power systems. The VDGS is an automated display system that guides pilots to park their aircraft safely and precisely at the terminal gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ground Systems And Support Functions Tested<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The trial extended beyond aircraft parking to cover the wider set of activities involved in servicing a flight between arrival and departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teams assessed integrated baggage handling, cargo operations, and in-flight catering, along with other routine ground handling functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refuelling scenarios were also evaluated as part of the airport’s operational preparedness. The combined assessment allowed the airport to measure how efficiently each support function feeds into the overall turnaround timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigation And Approach Procedures Re-Validated<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airport re-validated its Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP) approach procedures during the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These checks confirm that the systems guiding arriving aircraft toward the runway meet the required operational standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport described the turnaround trial as one in a series of advanced ORAT exercises. Each exercise is aimed at ensuring seamless coordination across operational interfaces ahead of the start of commercial flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commercial Operations Set For June 15<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Noida International Airport will open with domestic flights from June 15. IndiGo (6E)<\/a> and Akasa Air (QP) will operate from the airport at launch, while the Air India (AI) group has chosen to begin services at a later stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport will start with 140 weekly flights connecting 15 destinations. IndiGo is scheduled to operate 126 weekly flights, and Akasa Air will run 14 weekly departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inaugural arrival will be an IndiGo service from Lucknow (LKO), scheduled to touch down at 08:05 am on June 15. The airport opens with an initial capacity of 12 million passengers a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
