SINGAPORE-<\/strong> Singapore Airlines (SQ)<\/a> will restore daily Airbus A380 flights between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Auckland Airport (AKL) from October 2025 as part of its IATA Winter 2026 schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move forms part of a broader expansion that will see the carrier operate 29% more A380 flights compared with the previous winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline is also strengthening its presence across Australasia with Airbus A380 services to Sydney Airport (SYD) and Melbourne Airport (MEL)<\/a>, while adjusting aircraft deployment across its global network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The changes highlight Singapore Airlines’ continued focus on high-demand long-haul markets and premium travel segments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Airlines Expands A380 Ops Across Australasia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Airlines is increasing Airbus A380<\/a> utilization during the Winter 2026 schedule, with Auckland returning to the carrier’s global superjumbo network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline previously operated the Airbus A380 on the Singapore-Auckland route between January and March this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auckland has also been a regular Airbus A380 destination for Singapore Airlines for more than a decade, although operations have experienced several interruptions over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to updated schedules, daily Airbus A380 flights will return on October 25, coinciding with the start of the IATA Winter Schedule. The aircraft will operate between Singapore Changi Airport and Auckland Airport on the following services:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auckland Gains Capacity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Airbus A380 deployment will replace Boeing 777-300ER<\/a> aircraft that were originally scheduled to operate flights SQ285 and SQ286.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft upgrade will add approximately 206 seats per day in each direction, representing a 78% increase in capacity compared with the previously planned Boeing 777 operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The larger aircraft will also increase premium cabin availability, allowing Singapore Airlines to offer more Suites, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class seats on the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore Airlines will continue operating three daily services between Singapore and Auckland throughout the winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the Airbus A380 flight, the airline will also deploy Boeing 777 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubai Loses Airbus A380 Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To accommodate the return of the Airbus A380 to Auckland, Singapore Airlines has removed the aircraft from its originally planned daily Dubai<\/a> operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier had previously scheduled Airbus A380 service on the Singapore-Dubai route. However, updated schedules show the aircraft being reassigned to Auckland instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This adjustment allows Singapore Airlines to deploy its limited Airbus A380 fleet where demand and revenue potential are strongest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline currently operates a fleet of 12 Airbus A380-800 aircraft, making fleet allocation decisions particularly important across its long-haul network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
