TAIPEI\u2014<\/strong> China Airlines (CI)<\/a> has revealed a redesigned Premium Economy cabin that will debut on its future Boeing 787 Dreamliner <\/a>fleet, marking a significant upgrade to the Taiwanese carrier\u2019s long-haul passenger experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement comes as the airline prepares to receive 24 new Boeing 787 aircraft ordered during the 2023 Paris Air Show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incoming fleet includes 18 Boeing 787-9s and six Boeing 787-10s, all of which will feature the newly developed Premium Economy product designed to strengthen the airline\u2019s position in the competitive premium travel market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Airlines New 787 Premium Economy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

China Airlines has configured the new Premium Economy cabin with 28 seats arranged in a 2-3-2 layout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier developed the cabin around a design concept known as \u201cStarlit Mountain City,\u201d drawing inspiration from Jiufen, a historic mountain town in northern Taiwan renowned for its illuminated streets and scenic nighttime views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline said the cabin incorporates visual elements inspired by Taiwanese landscapes and culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metallic chrome finishes, leather textures, and carefully designed lighting effects create a modern yet refined atmosphere intended to reflect the warmth and energy of Taiwan\u2019s urban environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new cabin forms part of China Airlines\u2019 broader strategy to enhance passenger comfort and differentiate its onboard product as airlines continue investing in premium travel experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enhanced Passenger Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each Premium Economy seat will feature a 15.6-inch 4K ultra-high-definition entertainment screen equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This allows passengers to pair personal wireless devices and headphones directly with the inflight entertainment system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seats will also include individual reading lamps finished in rose-gold tones, adding a premium aesthetic while improving functionality during flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Airlines is extending several upgraded service elements to Premium Economy travelers. Passengers will receive porcelain tableware, two-tone blankets, slippers, and noise-reducing over-ear headphones designed to improve comfort on long-haul routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has also partnered with luxury fashion brand Marc Jacobs to provide amenity kits stocked with skincare products from Danish lifestyle company FRAMA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Premium Economy passengers will receive complimentary Wi-Fi access, matching the connectivity benefits currently offered to Business Class customers, Aero Time reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These enhancements reflect a growing industry trend in which airlines are investing heavily in Premium Economy cabins as demand rises for products positioned between Economy and Business Class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Airlines’ Dreamliner Fleet Plans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Premium Economy cabin will be exclusive to China Airlines\u2019 upcoming Boeing 787 fleet and differs from the Premium Economy product currently installed on the airline\u2019s Boeing 777-300ER and selected Airbus A350-900 aircraft<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dreamliner order represents one of the carrier\u2019s most significant fleet modernization efforts in recent years. Boeing\u2019s 787 family offers improved fuel efficiency, lower operating costs, and enhanced passenger comfort compared with older-generation widebody aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By introducing a completely redesigned Premium Economy experience alongside its new Dreamliners, China Airlines aims to attract premium leisure and business travelers while reinforcing its reputation as one of Asia\u2019s leading full-service carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
