The airline, headquartered in Taipei and operating out of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), has already applied for regulatory approval for both routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman Chang Kuo-Wei announced the expansion plans at the airline&#8217;s annual shareholder meeting, confirming that Zurich and Barcelona are set to follow Prague (PRG), which will begin service on August 1. Starlux Airlines Airbus A350-941 B-58501, CC BY-SA 2.0, https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=128223927<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-australia-and-new-zealand-enter-the-picture\"><strong>Australia and New Zealand Enter the Picture<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to its European and North American ambitions, STARLUX has identified Australia and New Zealand as key growth markets for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sydney is being considered as a potential destination, which would mark the airline&#8217;s entry into the Oceania region and further extend its long-haul network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-fleet-built-for-long-haul-ambitions\"><strong>Fleet Built for Long-Haul Ambitions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>STARLUX (JX) currently operates a fleet of 29 aircraft following the delivery of two Airbus A350-900s and one A330-900neo in the prior year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To support its long-haul route strategy, the airline signed an agreement with Airbus in mid-2025 to purchase 10 <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=A350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Airbus A350-1000<\/a> passenger aircraft, a variant specifically built for extended long-haul operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, the carrier transported 4.90 million passengers and handled 87,000 tons of cargo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cargo-business-gets-a-dedicated-push\"><strong>Cargo Business Gets a Dedicated Push<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the cargo side, STARLUX (JX) has ordered 10 Airbus A350F freighter aircraft. Chairman Chang acknowledged that as a young carrier, the airline is not yet eligible for membership, with existing <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/oneworld\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oneworld members<\/a> advising STARLUX to first build partnerships with alliance carriers before pursuing full membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, STARLUX has established codeshare partnerships with <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/alaska-airlines\/\">Alaska Airlines (AS)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/american-airlines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Airlines (AA)<\/a>, both of which are Oneworld alliance members, as a stepping stone toward eventual alliance integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay tuned with us.
