KOLKATA\u2014<\/strong> Kolkata\u2019s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) is attempting to restore direct European connectivity after airport officials opened discussions with British Airways (BA)<\/a> and Lufthansa (LH)<\/a> about resuming flights from the eastern Indian city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The talks took place during the Routes Asia 2026 aviation conference held in China last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airport authorities are now preparing passenger traffic data for both airlines, focusing on travelers flying from Kolkata to Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America through connecting hubs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move comes years after British Airways suspended London Heathrow Airport (LHR)<\/a> services and Lufthansa ended flights to Frankfurt Airport (FRA)<\/a>, leaving the city without nonstop links to Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport currently estimates that nearly 500 passengers travel daily from Kolkata to Europe, the UK, and the US using connecting flights through Gulf and Indian hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
