CANADA\u2014<\/strong> WestJet (WS)<\/a> has removed 41 international routes from its network as the Canadian carrier reshapes its schedule for the 2026 travel season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline\u2019s revised timetable shows major reductions across the United States, the Caribbean, and select leisure markets in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data comparing WestJet\u2019s operations between January 2025 and May 2026 with schedules filed from June 2026 through March 2027 highlights the changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Calgary International Airport (YYC)-based airline has particularly scaled back several US services while continuing to focus on core domestic and high-demand sun destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WestJet’s US Route Cuts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More than half of the eliminated routes involve the United States. WestJet has ended 24 cross-border services, reflecting softer demand from Canadian travelers and broader market adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the discontinued routes are Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (YWG) to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)<\/a>, Vancouver International Airport (YVR)<\/a> to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), and Edmonton International Airport (YEG) to Nashville International Airport (BNA). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several of these services operated seasonally and recorded modest passenger loads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The YWG-ATL route attracted attention because it connected travelers into Delta Air Lines\u2019 vast Atlanta hub network. Despite the partnership opportunity, the service reportedly posted average load factors below expectations before ending in April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WestJet has also withdrawn flights from YVR to Tampa International Airport (TPA), leaving the route without any scheduled nonstop service after Air Canada (AC)<\/a> also exited the market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seasonal flights from Calgary International Airport (YYC) to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and YWG to BNA have also disappeared from future schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WestJet’s Caribbean Changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

WestJet has additionally removed 14 Caribbean routes, all linked to Cuba. Most of these services came into the airline\u2019s network following its acquisition of leisure carrier Sunwing Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspended routes mainly operated during the peak winter travel period between December 2025 and February 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Canadian airlines have faced operational challenges in Cuba due to jet fuel shortages, these specific routes currently show no planned return in WestJet\u2019s future schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the reductions, the airline still plans to maintain a sizable Cuban operation beginning in October 2026. More than 20 routes to the island nation remain listed in its broader winter network strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cuts indicate a shift toward consolidating capacity on stronger-performing leisure routes while trimming lower-demand regional links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WestJet’s Mexico Network<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mexico remains WestJet\u2019s second-largest international market after the United States. The country now accounts for more than a quarter of the airline\u2019s flights, reflecting significant expansion in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the carrier has still removed a handful of routes from its Mexican and Latin American network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regina International Airport (YQR) to Mazatl\u00e1n International Airport (MZT) and Montr\u00e9al\u2013Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) are no longer scheduled beyond early 2026, Simple Flying<\/a> flagged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WestJet has also ended service between YUL and Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport in San Andr\u00e9s, Colombia (ADZ). The leisure-focused route was another inherited Sunwing operation and primarily catered to winter vacation demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
