BASEL\u2014<\/strong> Swiss International Air Lines (LX)<\/a> will add Bengaluru (BLR) to its long-haul network in the 2026\/27 winter schedules, marking its first ever service to Southern India. The new five-times-weekly route connects Zurich (ZRH) with India’s technology capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier will operate to 88 destinations worldwide from Zurich (ZRH) and Geneva (GVA) in the coming winter season. SWISS will also extend its new Airbus A350<\/a> fleet to Johannesburg (JNB) and Shanghai (PVG), widening access to its upgraded ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SWISS Adds Bengaluru as Third Indian Gateway<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Swiss International Air Lines confirmed a new five-times-weekly service to Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore, in the coming winter timetable. The route becomes the airline’s third destination in India, joining existing services to Delhi (DEL)<\/a> and Mumbai (BOM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bengaluru is India’s fourth-largest city and one of Asia’s leading centers of technology and innovation. The region hosts a large base of international technology corporations alongside numerous European companies, and it has developed into a major high-tech and innovation hub over recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger<\/strong> said the airline is pleased to offer customers another attractive long-haul destination. He noted that India’s technology capital appeals to both leisure and business travelers and serves as a strong gateway for exploring Southern India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fehlinger added that the new service specifically targets growing business demand for direct flights to the technology hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight Schedule and Timings<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The eastbound LX 140 service will depart Zurich daily, except Mondays and Wednesdays, at 13:20. The flight arrives in Bengaluru approximately nine hours later at 02:55 the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The westbound LX 141 service will leave Bengaluru daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 04:50. The aircraft reaches Zurich at 10:50 on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus A350 Deployment Expands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SWISS expects its long-haul Airbus A350 fleet to reach a total of five aircraft by the end of this year. The growing fleet will allow more travelers to access the new ‘SWISS Senses’ long-haul travel experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following A350 deployment on the Boston (BOS)<\/a> and Seoul (ICN) routes, SWISS will introduce the type on its Zurich-Johannesburg service in the coming winter schedules. The Zurich-Shanghai route will receive A350 aircraft from September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers on these routes will benefit from the new SWISS Senses cabin and improved inflight comfort across all seating classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geneva Network Adjustments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Geneva-based network will extend to 15 short-haul destinations in addition to the long-haul service to and from New York (JFK)<\/a>. SWISS will not serve Berlin (BER), Hamburg (HAM), or Pristina (PRN) from Geneva in the coming winter schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline attributed these cuts to the continuing limited global availability of aircraft and engine parts for the SWISS Airbus A220 fleet. SWISS stated that the changes strengthen overall fleet planning and operational stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SWISS will serve 60 European and 24 intercontinental destinations from Zurich in the coming winter timetable period. The 2026\/27 winter schedule runs from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027. In total, the airline will operate to 88 destinations from Zurich and Geneva during the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
